Advocate Colonel Inder Sen Singh (Retd) appearing for these two officers in the court said that despite being the only officers of their respective batches, they were not promoted. The lawyer said that both the officers seem to have not been promoted just because the then army chief considered them “a close man of the previous army chief”. Other officials of the intelligence unit have reportedly earlier also alleged that they suffered because of being “close” to former army chief and now Union minister VK Singh.

Both these army officers had knocked on the doors of the Armed Forces Tribunal separately. But, their petitions were rejected. After this he reached the Supreme Court of the country.
