Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday appeared before a committee set up to resolve the rift in the state unit of the Congress and the meeting lasted for nearly three hours. After the meeting, Amarinder Singh refused to divulge the details of the meeting, though he insisted that next year’s assembly elections have to be won together.

Party sources said that with this meeting with Amarinder Singh, the committee’s exercise of dialogue was completed. Now she will soon submit her report to the high command.

A source aware of

the entire exercise of the committee told Bhasha, “After the committee’s meeting with the Chief Minister on Friday, the process of dialogue was completed. After this the committee will soon submit its report to the Congress high command.

The committee, headed by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, has, in the last four days, taken their opinion from over 100 Congress leaders hailing from Punjab. Most of them are legislators. Apart from Kharge, Congress general secretary and Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat and senior Delhi Pradesh Congress leader JP Agarwal are included in this committee.

In fact, in the recent few weeks, there has been a sharp rhetoric between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. MLA Pargat Singh and some other leaders of the State Congress Committee have also opened a front against the Chief Minister.
