America will distribute 80 million doses of Coronavirus Vaccine to the world, 75% to Covax: Joe Biden

Washington
The White House on Thursday unveiled US President Joe Biden’s plan to share the Kovid-19 vaccine with the world. Under this plan of the Biden administration, 75 percent of the additional doses will be supplied through the ‘Covax’ initiative run in collaboration with the United Nations. US Vice President Kamala Harris has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this.

The White House previously said it intended to share 80 million doses of the vaccine with the world by the end of June. The Biden administration has said that an
additional 25 percent of the doses will be reserved for emergencies and for direct shipping to allies.

Vaccine demand is low in America
This much-awaited plan has been launched amid declining demand for the vaccine in the US. More than 63 percent of adults in the United States have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while there is a lack of vaccine access around the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US Vice President Kamala Harris, lauded the assurances given to India on vaccine supplies as part of the US strategy for vaccine sharing globally.
