The Assam government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown in seven districts where the positivity rate of corona cases is high. Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the government has imposed complete curfew in Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Vishwanath and Morigaon. Despite some restrictions, the number of corona virus cases in these districts has been increasing continuously. .

Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahant said that these districts have been brought under the Containment Zone. The Minister said that a large number of cases of Kovid-19 are being reported in the rural and tea garden areas of these districts. According to him, in the last few days, the infection rate in seven districts was recorded between 2.68 percent to 5.64 percent.

Only goods vehicles are allowed to move
Keshab Mahant said that there will be a complete ban on the movement of all public and private transport in these districts, although goods vehicles will be allowed to operate.

What will remain closed in these districts?
Mahant said that all workplaces, commercial and commercial establishments, shops, restaurants and other eateries, cold storages and godowns in these districts with high positivity rates will remain closed till further orders.

Whereas in the rest of the districts everything will open with timing.
These things will remain open till 1 pm daily in 16 other districts where ‘moderate’ Covid infection rates have been recorded, and the curfew will be in force from 2 pm to 5 am. These districts include Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Baksa, Bajli, Kamrup, Darrang, Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Cachar, Karimganj and Karbi Anglong.

Curfew will remain in these districts from 5 pm to 5 am
Mahant said that the districts of Sivasagar and Dibrugarh would be kept under strict surveillance for the next one week. The minister said that curfew will also be applicable from 5 pm to 5 am in Dhubri, Kamrup Metro, South Salmara, Majuli, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Charaideo and Hailakandi, where the situation of Kovid-19 has improved.

10 people will attend wedding and funeral in lockdown districts
Keshab Mahant said that business establishments in these districts will be allowed to operate till 4 pm. All inter-district passenger transport services will remain suspended. The government has banned public gatherings in districts that fall under containment zones, while marriages and funeral programs in other places are allowed up to 10 people.

Odd-even formula for vehicular movement
The minister said that wearing of face masks is mandatory in public places and other restrictions like odd-even formula for vehicular movement will remain in force. He said that these restrictions will come into effect from July 7 and will be effective till further orders.

‘More than 36,000 children have been hit by Corona’
The minister appealed to parents who have children below the age of 18 to be cautious, as they can spread the disease to minors who have not been vaccinated yet. He said that so far more than 36,000 children have been affected by the disease in Assam and at present there are 2,890 under-treatment patients below the age of 18 years. The minister said that 38 children have died due to this disease so far.

22,243 positive cases in Assam now
Assam currently has 22,243 under-treatment patients, and the overall infection rate is 2.37 per cent. A total of 5,19,834 cases had been reported in the northeastern state till Monday, while the death toll due to the infection is 4,683 and 4,91,561 people have recovered from the disease.
