The high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday decided to lift basic duty on import of Kovid vaccine and 16 types of oxygen equipment for the next three months. Prime Minister Modi has emphasized to work with all the ministries to bring the country out of the oxygen crisis.
During this time it was decided to waive the custom duty on import of a total of 16 devices related to oxygen etc. beneficial for Kovid patients. In this, it was decided to exempt medical oxygen,
Prime Minister Modi asked the Finance Ministry to take clearance for import of these instruments as soon as possible. After this, the finance ministry appointed Gauravs Joint Secretary Gaurav as the nodal officer for clearance of customs exemption on the import of all oxygen related equipment. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister, Commerce Minister, Health Minister, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Member of NITI Aayog, Director of AIIMS and other key officials.
Air Force C-17 Container
The Government of India on Saturday ordered 4 cryogenic oxygen containers from Singapore to address the shortage of oxygen. The C-17 aircraft of the Air Force has brought these empty containers. The Air Force aircraft arrived at Singapore’s Changi International Airport at 7.45 am. From there, he left at 8 o’clock. The plane was landed at Panagarh airbase in West Bengal.
High level review meeting was also held on Thursday
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high level meeting on the supply of oxygen. In this, he had instructed the officers that there should not be any hindrance in the supply of oxygen to the states.
Home Ministry directs the states – Movement of oxygen-free vehicles
- Vehicles carrying oxygen from one district to another will not be stopped.
- There will be no restriction on vehicles carrying oxygen from one state to another.
- Oxygen manufacturers cannot be asked to send their supplies to hospitals in any one state or city.
- There will be no time restriction on the movement of oxygen-bound vehicles even within cities.
Work will be stopped in the steel factories of Punjab
The order to stop work in all steel and iron factory has been issued on Saturday amid lack of oxygen in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said that the oxygen produced here will be used for corona patients. Apart from this, oxygen control rooms will be set up in the districts immediately.
