The Center on Thursday directed the states to ensure the production and supply of medical oxygen without any hindrance as well as its transportation from one state to another. The Ministry also said that if this order is not

followed, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of the concerned district will be accountable.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla under the Stricter Disaster Management Act, 2005, against the backdrop of reports of some states disrupting the supply of medical oxygen to other states following the increase in demand for oxygen due to the increasing number of Kovid-19 patients. This order has been issued.

The order states that there should be no restriction on the movement of vehicles transporting medical oxygen between states and transport corporations should be instructed to allow movement of vehicles involved in transportation of oxygen.

The ministry said that there should be no limit on maximum limit on oxygen producers and suppliers will supply life saving gas to hospitals in the state or union territory where they are located.

According to the order, cities should have freedom of movement of vehicles involved in oxygen transportation without any time limit restrictions and they should be allowed to move between cities without any restriction.

It states that no authority should seize an oxygen transport vehicle passing through its district or region or supplying to a district or region.

As per the instructions, the supply of industrial oxygen to all industries is discontinued from April 22, 2021 till the next order, in addition to the 9 industries which the government has exempted.

It has been said in the order that the states and union territories should follow the scheme made and changed from time to time on behalf of the Empowered Group-1 in respect of supply of medical oxygen.
