According to the hospital authority, 56-year-old Rita Sharma was brought to the hospital late on Wednesday night. His oxygen level was steadily falling. Even after being put on ventilator, his condition did not improve and he succumbed after two hours.
The hospital authority said that after searching online, Rakesh Sharma’s family spoke at the hospital and upon finding out the availability of oxygen beds, he brought his patient to Champawat. There are calls from Delhi-NCR to inquire about the availability of oxygen beds in the hospital.
Under normal circumstances, serious patients have been referred to Delhi or Dehradun from far off areas like Pithoragarh, Champawat in Uttarakhand. Due to lack of medical facilities, people have been taking to the streets as well and this is also a big reason for migrating from the mountains. But in the havoc created in Delhi-NCR in the havoc of Corona, the medical facilities of the mountains also look like a ray of hope.
However, in Uttarakhand, corona cases are increasing steadily. On Friday, 5654 new cases of corona were reported in Uttarakhand and 122 deaths occurred. The number of active cases has increased to 55886 in Uttarakhand and so far 2624 people have died from Corona. The investigation report of 32399 people is pending now.
