What is Andhra’s formula with Deputy Chief Minister?
There are five deputy chief ministers each in the Andhra Pradesh government. Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy has also formed a Deputy Chief Minister within his cabinet. He has made five deputy chief ministers in the 25-member council of ministers. These five Deputy Chief Ministers have been made from five different sections- Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities and Kapu (farmer) communities. This had never happened before in the political history of independent India. Since the era of coalition politics has started, the post of Deputy Chief Minister is usually given to the largest partner party. The practice of having one or two deputy chief ministers to represent the different communities is already in place. At present, in many states, one or two Deputy Chief Ministers are working somewhere. But Jagan Mohan has created a new tradition by making five Deputy Chief Ministers.

If the Andhra Pradesh formula is implemented in Bihar, then there are four parties in the state NDA. BJP is the single largest party with 74 seats and two deputy CMs have been made from it. JDU has 43 MLAs, but Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister under the pre-poll agreement. Jitan Ram Manjhi has 4 MLAs and Mukesh Sahni has 4 MLAs. Nitish government has the support of one independent and one MLA who won from BSP. Both have been made ministers. Manjhi and Mukesh Sahni have never openly spoken about the Deputy CM, but both have a desire for the Deputy Chief Minister’s chair.
