Third seed Aryna Sabalenka lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the third round here on Friday, as the women’s seeded players continued to crash out of the French Open tennis Grand Slam while Germany’s Alexander Zverev advanced to the last 16 rounds in the men’s section. After a 4-6, 6-2, 0-6 loss to Sabalenka, the top three seeded players in Roland Garros’ women’s section are now out.
Now fourth seed Sofia Kenin is the top seed. Anastasia will now face Victoria Azarenka, who defeated 23rd seed Madison Keys 6-2, 6-2 in 70 minutes. The two-time Grand Slam champion has reached the fourth round for the first time since the semi-finals in 2013.
Unseeded Tamara Zidansek and 21st seed Elina Ribakina also made it to the next round. Match play was interrupted by rain in the afternoon, delaying all court matches except the main stadium.
