Belonging to a poor family living in a hut, he has completed his job as a security guard. Ranjith said that the parents have no knowledge about IIM. To convince him to go to Ranchi, he had to tell
28-year-old Ranjith told a conversation with our associate newspaper Times of India, ‘I was very happy to get the appointment letter of the professor at IIM. When I told about becoming a professor in IIM Ranchi, no one in the family understood it. He said that when there is a job in Bengaluru, then what is the need to go so far in Ranchi. They did not know what IIM is. Then I told that my government job has taken place. Then he said that it is fine. But when my post on Facebook went viral and the phones started coming from the media, then they realized that there was something big. ‘
He said, ‘I completed my primary school from the village school. From the fifth class to the 10th, he stayed and studied in a sponsored residential school on behalf of the government. When I returned to the village after the 10th, I saw the struggle of my parents. At that time, I had made up my mind to quit studies. But then luckily got a job as a night guard at BSNL telephone exchange. Along with studying from that salary, he started helping the family as well.
Ranjith said, ‘My studies continued. During the post graduation, the teachers helped me a lot and encouraged me to pursue my PhD. On his advice, I went to IIT Madra. I also had a lot of difficulty in IIT Madras in the beginning. I was out of my district for the first time. At the same time, the language was also different. My guide Dr. Subhash Sasidharan helped me a lot there. ‘
He told, ‘My father is Taylor and mother works in MNREGA. These are my inspiration in life. I have a brother and a sister. Studying both. Our house is slum. But the parents took full care of the facilities. Now if I have become something, I will build the house.
