Digital Desk, Lucknow. The politics of UP is going through ups and downs before the assembly elections. A few months before the elections, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav seems to be involved in the Gomti riverfront case. Now the CBI seems to be tightening its grip on this old case.
On Monday, the CBI raided 40 different locations simultaneously in the Gomti River Front scam from Lucknow, Noida, Dehradun to Agra. It is being told that this is a big action from the Anti Corruption Wing of CBI Lucknow. Let us tell you, on Friday, an FIR was registered against 190 people in the River Front scam. Since then, this action is being seen as a big action.
According to the information received, apart from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, raids are being conducted in Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Etawah and Agra. Apart from this, simultaneous raids are going on in Rajasthan and West Bengal also.
It is noteworthy that the allegations of river front scam have been on the Samajwadi government for a long time. In a statement from the BJP, it was said that this scam happened during the tenure of SP party president Akhilesh Yadav. During that time, the Samajwadi government had sanctioned 1513 crores for the Gomti River Front in Lucknow. Out of which, even after the release of Rs 1437 crore, only 60 percent work was done. The organizations working for the river front spent 95 percent of the budget but the work was not completed.
It is to be known that during the assembly elections in 2017, when the BJP government came to power, it was said that the matter should be investigated. Since the BJP government came to power, FIRs have been registered against many officers till now. Now the round of raids has started again in the case.
Four years ago, the Yogi government had recommended a CBI probe into the scam. Prior to that in April 2017, the state government had ordered a judicial inquiry into the river front scam. After the investigation, the committee had registered a case (FIR) against several officers at the Gomti Nagar police station. Based on the same FIR, the CBI had filed the report. In which an engineer has been arrested. The name of the arrested engineer is being told as Roop Singh. Under the River Front Project, the Irrigation Department alone had issued more than 800 tenders. In these, the contractors were given work bypassing the rules. At that time the CBI had got enough evidence against Roop Singh, the Executive Engineer of Sharda Canal, Lucknow Section.
