- Challenge in front of Team India after Shubman Gill’s injury. Kaun Banega Opener
- Team management wants to call Prithvi Shaw for Test series against England
- Team worries what will happen if Mayank and Rohit are not available
Shubman Gill will soon return to India from England. Injury in two places in his calf (Shubman Gill Injured) is. And the reason for this can be the workload of Gill. But the question now is who will replace Gill?
Gill did not get injured during any training session and our affiliate newspaper Times of India has learned that the injury was the result of off-field training workload. This problem is quite common among athletes. Gill’s injury will be monitored but it has become very clear that he will have to be away from the game for six to eight weeks.
Now the discussion has started as to who will replace Gill in the team. Mayank Agarwal scored a lot of runs in 2018-19. He is part of the 24-member team. Along with this, Abhimanyu Easwaran of Bengal has also gone with the team as a standby.
Easwaran has played 64 matches as an opener in first class cricket. Although he has not played an international match yet. The 25-year-old Easawaran scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket in 2018-19 but could not continue his form the next year. Despite this, he always remained in the eyes of the selectors. But the question is whether Team India can rely only on this youngster as an ‘extra opener’ in England conditions for the next 70 days.
It is reported that Team India would like to call Prithvi Shaw to England as soon as possible in its place. And hopefully an official request will be made to the BCCI for the same.
The tour of New Zealand and Australia was not good for Prithvi Shaw. However, in the domestic season, he did amazing batting in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He became the first batsman to score more than 800 runs in the season. Along with this, he also broke the Indian record chasing runs in List A. He left behind the records of Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni). On the basis of his performance, he has been selected for the home series against Sri Lanka.

A source close to the matter said, “Here is a batsman who is in tremendous form, who is playing an irrelevant series in Sri Lanka. Whereas he should be in England. This will give a support to the team. It’s been five days since Gill got injured and the selectors have not responded.
The team is looking at KL Rahul as a potential middle-order batsman but not at all as an opener.
The main concern of the Indian team is what to do if Rohit Sharma or Mayank Agarwal is not available for one or more matches.
Sources further said, ‘In these circumstances, the team will have no option but to go to God during this important series.’
Sources said, “In a difficult situation, the team will have to try God, who had done well in domestic cricket two seasons ago. No one has seen his recent game. So would it not be wise to take a batsman whose batting is already visible in England? The team knows Prithvi. The team understands Prithvi. If they feel that Prithvi should be in England then there is no reason why BCCI sent him?’
BCCI will have to take a decision on this soon. Sau is currently in Sri Lanka and if he wants to join the team in England, then he will have to go there and go through Quarantine.
