Indian broadcast crew has not yet received approval from Abu Dhabi government: PCB

Karachi
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that India’s 16-member broadcast team, which arrived in Abu Dhabi to cover the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is yet to receive approval from the relevant local government authorities, due to which the competition has been postponed. There is a delay in finalizing the program.

The remaining 20 matches of the PSL are to be played in Abu Dhabi. Earlier in March, the tournament was postponed after some players and officials tested positive for COVID-19. “The PCB is still awaiting approval from

the Abu Dhabi Health Ministry for India’s 16-member broadcast crew,” board sources said.

He said members of the Indian broadcasting crew were on quarantine in Abu Dhabi but health officials instructed them to leave the hotel and stay in isolation in another UAE state before entering Abu Dhabi. The PCB had airlifted the Indian broadcasting crew to Abu Dhabi by chartered aircraft.

“If we get the necessary permissions by Thursday, the PSL can be started from June 7 or 8,” sources said. If it is delayed even further, the wait will increase.
