Project-75 India, which has been stuck for a long time, has finally been approved. On Friday, the Ministry of Defense approved this project. Under this, 6 submarines will be built for the Indian Navy. 43 thousand crores will be spent on this project.

Earlier, a high power committee was appointed by the Defense Ministry which evaluated eight Indian shipyards and selected two Indian shipyards for the project. It has one government-run Mazagon Docks Limited and the other private shipyard L&T. Both these companies will submit their proposal and bid for the project in collaboration with foreign shipyards. According to the Ministry of Defense, getting this project approval is also historic because it is the first case approved under the Strategic Partnership Model.

Actually submarine runs on underwater battery. It has to come back to the surface to charge the battery. With the new system, the submarine can stay under water for 3 to 5 days without coming to the surface.
According to an official, it will take about 9-10 years for the Indian Navy to get this submarine even after the project approval. From issuance of RFI (Request for Proposal) till the signing of contract, it will take about one and a half to two years. After which the first submarine will be available after 6-7 years.
Along with this, the Defense Ministry has approved Rs 6000 crore for indigenous air defense guns for the Indian Army. The Indian Army was in need of modernization of air defense guns for a long time. Till now these guns have been taken from abroad only. According to the Defense Ministry, many Indian companies gave very encouraging response and said that they want to make air defense guns. Therefore, Rs 6000 crore has been approved for Buy End Make India Category for Air Defense Gun and its Ammunition.
Armed forces will now be able to make emergency purchases till August 31. Its timeline has been extended to 31 August 2021.
