Indian women’s cricket team’s young batsman Jemima Rodrigues will play for Northern Superchargers in the first ‘The Hundred’ series to be held in Britain from July 21. Twenty-year-old Jemima will be accompanied by India’s T20 captain Harmanpreem Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, opener Shefali Verma and all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
Eight men’s and eight women’s teams are participating in the hundred-ball tournament. Jemima said in the BBC ‘Stumped’ podcast, ‘I am looking forward to this. This is something new and something different.
Jemima has been included in the Indian squad for a Test against England from June, which will be followed by three ODIs and three T20Is. She is currently quarantined in Mumbai with the women’s team. England’s World Cup winning captain Lauren Winfield Hill will captain the Northern Superchargers.
