The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday announced that star pacer Jofra Archer will not be able to return to the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), adding to the woes of his franchise Rajasthan Royals. The 26-year-old bowler from England has started practice this week. The ECB and Sussex teams will continue to monitor their progress.
Last week, Archer was not approved to resume practice. His right hand underwent surgery on 29 March. Archer’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals were expected to be available for the subsequent matches of the tournament.
Archer has thus become the second English player with RR, who is unable to serve his team in the IPL. Earlier, all-rounder Ben Stokes has ruled out of the IPL with a finger injury.
