Israel’s border police forcibly took a senior reporter for the Al Jazeera satellite channel into custody while she was reporting from Jerusalem. She was covering a dharna of Palestinians here. Giwara Buderi was released on Saturday, several hours after being taken into custody in Sheikh Jarrah.
Al Jazeera alleged that the police also sabotaged the equipment of the channel’s cameraman. Al Jazeera’s Jerusalem bureau chief Walid Omri said Buderi had a broken arm and was admitted to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
Omri said that Buderi was regularly reporting from
thrashing, then arrest
Omri told that the security forces did not give him that much time and started shouting at him and thrashing him. The officers handcuffed him and forced him to sit in a Border Police jeep. Omri said that Buderi is a journalist accredited with the Israeli government’s press office. Israeli police did not comment on this.
