37-year-old Satish, a resident of Mullur village in Kodagu, is a teacher in a government school. He teaches children from class 1 to 5 in primary. With two months of hard work and an expenditure of 10 thousand rupees, he prepared this special class, where he teaches Maths, English and Kannada. Satish prepared the class on top of the tree with the help of bamboo sticks. He got the idea for this from the local language Attapalli, which villagers use to keep an eye on elephants and wild boars to protect crops. School children also appreciate Satish’s efforts. Punya, who is studying in the fourth class, says that no class is missed due to the brilliant initiative of the teacher.
Karnataka’s primary education minister S. Suresh Kumar raised the issue of poor internet connectivity in rural areas to Chief Minister B. s. Yediyurappa and Chief Secretary P. Ravi Kumar. He wrote a letter and appealed to remove the problem in rural and hilly areas.
