Hyderabad
Ombudsman Justice (retd) Deepak Verma on Sunday reinstated Mohammad Azharuddin as the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and also “temporarily disqualified” five members of the apex council that suspended the former India captain. done.

In the interim order, the HCA Ombudsman has temporarily disqualified five members of the HCA Apex Council, K John Manoj, Vice President R Vijayanand, Naresh Sharma, Surender Agarwal and Anuradha.

The Apex Council had ‘suspended’ Azharuddin for alleged violation of its constitution. Justice (Retd) Verma, in his order, said that the complaint against Azharuddin was not sent to the Lokpal and therefore has no statutory validity.

Justice (retd) Verma said, “The Apex Council cannot take such decisions on its own. Therefore, I consider it appropriate to set aside the resolution (if any) passed by these five members to suspend the elected president, issue show cause notices and also direct them to initiate further proceedings against HCA President Mohammad Azharuddin. Stay away from taking any action.

“Therefore, I direct that Mohammad Azharuddin should continue as the Speaker and all complaints against the office bearers will be decided by the Lokpal only,” he said.
