Moin Khan Son Azam in T20I squad: Former captain Moin Khan’s son Azam entered Pakistan T20 team, had to reduce 30 kg weight in a year

New Delhi
Azam Khan, a hard-hitting batsman in the Pakistani T20 International cricket team (Moin Khan Son Azam) has been entered. Azam, the son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, was selected in the squad for the tours of England and the West Indies on Friday after a stellar performance in domestic cricket. Interestingly, he has lost 30 kg (66 lb) to make it to the team.

The 22-year-old Khan had been on the selectors’ radar for the past one year but was asked to reduce his weight by

around 30 kg before being considered. Former captain Moin Khan’s son Azam claims that he has lost around 30 kg in the last 12 months. He has a strike rate of 157 in 36 domestic Twenty20 matches including the Pakistan Super League.

The selectors have also re-inducted Imad Wasim for three T20 Internationals in England and five T20 Internationals in West Indies besides Haris Sohail for three ODIs in England. Fast bowlers Muhammad Abbas and Naseem Shah have also returned to the squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies in Jamaica. Abbas and Naseem were ignored in the recent two Test matches played in Zimbabwe.

Azam’s name in the T20 team is surprising as he has played only one first-class match so far. Although he has played 36 T20 matches and has the image of a batsman with big shots. He has played in Pakistan Super League and Sri Lanka Premier League.
