Netherlands beat Ireland by one run in a close match, lead 1-0 in the three-match series

Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Netherlands beat Ireland by one run in the first ODI at the Sportpark Marschalkerweird Stadium. With this, Netherlands have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Ireland needed 12 runs in the last over and had wickets in hand. Simi Singh was batting on 44 but Netherlands pacer Logan van Beek managed to give his team a one-run victory in their first World Cup Super League match in Utrecht. He conceded only ten runs in his over. Ireland needed three off the last

ball. Number 10 Josh Little failed to attempt to paddle and could only take a single off a bye and Ireland lost in the thrilling match.

Netherlands won the toss and batted first, Guggen scored 195 runs in 50 overs on the basis of 49 runs off 53 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. Chasing the target, Ireland’s team could only manage 194 for nine in 50 overs despite Paul Stillung’s innings of 69 runs off 112 balls with the help of eight fours.

Apart from Sterling, Simi Singh scored 45, Andy McBrine scored 17 and George Dockrell scored 11 runs in Ireland’s innings. No other batsman could reach double digits.

Apart from Seelar, Logan van Beek took two wickets while Fred Klaasen, Brandon Glover and Guggen took one wicket each.

Earlier, Guggen’s innings included Max Oudoud 23, Saqib Zulfikar 23, Bass de Liede 21, Stefan Maiberg (20) and Logan Van Beek (29) while Brandon Glover remained unbeaten on two runs.

For Ireland, Craig Young and Joshua Little took three wickets each while Simi Singh and Andy McBrine took one wicket each.
