Bhubaneswar| The Odisha government has recommended the name of para-badminton player Pramod Bhagat for the country’s highest sporting honor ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award’ for the year 2021. The state also recommended the name of Indian women’s hockey team vice-captain Deep Grace Ekka for the Arjuna Award for the year 2021. The Sports and Youth Services Department has recommended these names to the Sports Ministry.
“DSYS has recommended the names of Para Shuttle Pramod Bhagat and current Indian Women’s Hockey Team Vice-Captain Deep Grace Ekka for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award for the year 2021,” the department said in a tweet.
A week ago, the state government had nominated veteran runner Dutee Chand for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
The state government has also nominated Indian hockey team vice-captain Birender Lakra, who is in the Olympic team for the Arjuna Award, hockey coach Kaluchan Choudhary for the Dronacharya Award and former sprinter and Olympian Anuradha Biswal for the Dhyanchand Award.
