Government of former President of Mauritius Aniruddha Jagannath One day state mourning has been declared on Saturday in his honor. Former Mauritius President Anirudh Jugnauth passed away on Thursday. This information has been given in a statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The national flag will remain at half-mast on all buildings where the tricolor is flown

regularly during the day of mourning across India, the statement said. There will be no official entertainment program during this period. The statement further said that the Government of India has decided that in the honor of the departed personality, there will be a one-day state mourning across India on Saturday.

Former Mauritius President Anirudh Jugnauth passes away, Modi expressed grief

Jagannath has also been the former Prime Minister of Mauritius. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Jagannath, who was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, as the architect of modern Mauritius. Modi had said, “A proud diaspora, he helped build special bilateral ties that would benefit from his legacy.”
