- James Anderson has got 1002 wickets in first class cricket.
- Jimmy is currently playing for Lancashire in county cricket.
- Left-arm pacer Anderson will celebrate 39th birthday on July 30
England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson may have completed 1000 wickets in first-class cricket, despite this he is the overall 216th bowler to achieve this feat. Earlier, the record of touching the 1000 mark for the last time as a pacer in modern cricket was in the name of New Zealand’s Andy Caddick, who achieved this feat in 2005.
Anderson will turn 39 at the end of this month. Anderson, who was 6 feet 2 inches tall, played for Lancashire (Lancashire vs Kent) in the County Championship, dismissed 7 players for 19 runs against Kent on Monday.
Anderson made his 1000th victim by catching South Africa’s Hino Kun in the hands of wicketkeeper and captain Vilas. On the strength of Anderson’s sharp bowling, who took 5 wickets in the innings for the 51st time, Lancashire piled up Kent for just 74 runs in the first innings.
Wasim joins Aram’s club
Anderson (James Anderson 1 000 first-class wickets) became the 14th batsman in the world to have 1000 or more wickets in first-class cricket in the 21st century. These include 5 pacers. Apart from Anderson, modern cricket includes Caddick, Martin Bicknell, Devon Malcolm and former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram.
Caddick (1180 wickets) did this in 2005, Bicknell (1061 wickets) in 2004 and Malcolm (1054 wickets) in 2002. Akram (1041 wickets) took his 1000 first class wickets in 2001. Andesen’s number of first-class wickets has reached 1002.
Highest wicket taker in first class cricket
England’s left arm slow Orthodox bowler Wilfred Rhodes has the most wickets in first-class cricket. Rhodes has taken 4204 wickets in 1110 first class matches. During this, he has taken 5 wicket hauls 287 times.
The second number in this list is also dominated by the English bowler. Former leg break bowler Alfred Percy Freeman has taken 3776 wickets in 592 first-class matches, including 386 five-wicket hauls.
Former England spin bowler Charles Warrington Leonard Parker has taken a total of 3278 wickets in 635 first-class matches, taking 5 wickets in 277 times.
Alarm bells rang against India
Anderson’s sharp bowling is a matter of concern for India. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Team India is currently on a tour of England where they have to play a 5-match Test series against the hosts from August 4. In English conditions, Jimmy can wreak havoc with his fast bowling.
