‘The biggest regret was turning down the captaincy offer’
During the show, Rameez Raja asked Azhar, which decision do you regret the most? Azhar replied, “Not taking the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team.” Rameez Raja asked in amazement, ‘Really, when did this happen?’ Azhar Mahmood said, ‘In 2001, when I got the captaincy offer.’ Rameez said what you denied saying, then Azhar replied that I told General Sahab that Sir I want to play cricket. I have no interest in captaincy. I just want to play my cricket. I think it was my wrong decision not to speak for the captaincy.
