Digital Desk, New Delhi. Taking a major decision, ICMR and AIIMS have removed plasma therapy from the treatment of corona. The decision comes a day after members of the National Task Force of the ICMR suggested it. At the meeting of the National Task Force on Kovid-19, all members were in favor of plasma therapy not being effective and should be removed from the corona treatment system.
Recently, many clinicians and scientists wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Principal Scientific Secretary Vijay Raghavan, warning against the “irrational and unscientific use” of
What is plasma therapy?
Plasma is a yellowish liquid component present in the blood. A healthy body has more than 55 percent plasma and contains hormones, protein, carbon dioxide and glucose minerals in addition to water. When a patient recovers from the corona, the same plasma is offered to the corona victim. This is called plasma therapy.
It is believed that if the plasma of the patient who has been cured of corona is offered to the sick patient, then the antibodies of the cured patient are transferred to the body of the sick person and they start fighting the antibodies virus. But the study that has come out is shocking. In Britain, a test was conducted on 11 thousand people, but in this test, Plasma Therapy did not show any miracle.
AIIMS and ICMR released new guidelines
ICMR has also released a new guideline after the removal of plasma therapy from the treatment of corona. In the earlier guidelines, ICMR had said two big things about plasma therapy. Firstly, plasma therapy can be used on the same corona patients who have slight or moderate symptoms of infection.
Secondly, even if this treatment is given to patients of this category, then its time limit should be 4 to 7 days. But despite this, it was being used on serious patients in many hospitals.
