According to sources, the committee has submitted its report. Now the Congress high command will soon decide a formula so that the discord in Punjab can be ended and preparations can be started for the assembly elections to be held next year. Sources said that the committee headed by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has not made any recommendation regarding change of leadership in the government in Punjab, although it has definitely said that former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu should be given a suitable place in the government or organization. .
According to party sources, the committee has also advocated for giving space to all regions and all sections of the society at the time of change in the state organization of the Congress. The committee had recently taken their opinion from over 100 Congress leaders hailing from Punjab, including Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, several ministers, MPs and MLAs.
Apart from Kharge, Congress General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat and senior Delhi Pradesh Congress leader JP Agarwal are included in this committee. A few weeks ago, there was heated rhetoric between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. MLA Pargat Singh and some other leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee have also opened a front against the Chief Minister.
For the last few months, there has been a discussion that Sidhu wants the role of Deputy Chief Minister in the government or the President of the State Congress Committee in the organization. However, it has been said time and again by the former cricketer that he does not talk for the post, but for the rights of Punjab and Punjabis.
Sources also say that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has already conveyed his stand to the high command that giving the responsibility of the post of Deputy Chief Minister and President of State Congress Committee to a Sikh will not go well because the Chief Minister himself is from this society. And the Hindu community also has to be represented. In such a situation, there are speculations that in the event of giving important responsibility to the Congress high command, Sidhu may also consider giving important responsibility in the government to a leader of the Dalit (Hindu) community so that the social equation can be settled in the next elections.
