Municipal authorities take action
Under the Rajasthan Epidemic Diseases Act 2020, local municipal bodies have been given action powers for not adhering to COVID regulations and health protocols. In such a situation, the corporation has imposed a fine of around Rs 10 lakh daily under strict action. According to the statistics of the municipal body across the state, a fine of about Rs 4.29 crore has been recovered in 40 days.

The state government has empowered the local bodies to impose fines under three categories. In this, the revenue rank inspector of the corporation can impose a fine of Rs 500 on those who do not wear masks. Similarly, corporation officials can impose a fine of Rs 500 on shopkeepers running a shop without wearing masks. Apart from this, there is a provision of fine of Rs 100 for those who do not follow social distancing. Under the same category, the corporation has recovered a fine of around Rs 3 crore.

Jaipur has the highest collection of Rs 1.24 crore
Apart from this, an amount of about 9 lakh rupees has been recovered from the marriage garden operators for violating the rules. Apart from this, the corporation collected about 68 crores rupees from the establishments which violated the rules. In Jaipur alone, the corporation collected the highest fine of Rs 1.24 crore. After this, Rs 80.76 was collected in the corporation of Ajmer. Along with this, the Finance Department has asked the civic bodies to send the accounts of the fine collected from the people.
