In Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, there has been a wave of mourning in the entire region due to the death of Rajmata and wife of the last ruler of Beri princely state at the age of 102. He was also given a farewell funeral on Tuesday.
Lakshmi Kumari Judevya, the princess of Beri princely state, situated on the banks of river Betwa, 14 km from Kurara town of Hamirpur district, died in the palace at the age of 105 due to illness. There is mourning in the entire region due to his death. Today, he was cremated according to royal customs on the banks of the Betwa river that came out of the palace. With moist eyes, family members and villagers bid him a final farewell. The health of Laxmi Kumari Judevya, wife of Late Raja Yadvendra Singh Judev, the last ruler of Beri princely state, was deteriorating for a few days. His treatment was also going on under the supervision of CMO Dr. RK Sachan. He has two sons in which Surendra Singh Judev is the elder son, while Brijendra Singh Judev is the younger son. Rajmata also has a daughter.
Rajmata had built many grand temples during her reign.
Rajmata’s husband Yadvendra Singh Judev had died many years ago. Among his two sons, Surendra Singh Judev is 84 years old, while the younger son Brijendra Singh is 67 years old. Surendra Singh’s son is Shivendra Singh Judev who was once active in politics. Once he contested on the seat of Sadar Vidhan Sabha on a Congress ticket. He has two sisters in which elder sister Abha Kumari is married in Haldaur State Bijnor. Younger sister Divya Singh is married in Rajasthan who is a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan. Her husband Vishvendra Singh was also a minister in the Congress government of Rajasthan. Brijendra Singh Judeo told that Rajmata used to help a large number of poor girls in marriage during her reign. He also built many temples in and around the village.

642 years ago there was a princely state in Beri. Its founder was Aksharju Panwar. He moved to Jalaun district towards the end of the 18th century and started residing. He was married to the daughter of Jagatraj, the son of Maharaja Chhatrapal. He got a jagir of 12 lakhs in dowry. It was here that the jagir was later formed in the Beri princely state. The state of Beri was established in the middle of the 18th century through Diwan Achraju alias Achraj Singh Jagir. In the year 1809, the state of Berry joined the British. The last ruler of Rao Jugul Prasad’s Beri kingdom was Raja Late Yadvendra Judev. His wife was Lakshmi Kumari Judevya. It is said that Raja Bhaiya of Kunda Raghuraj Pratap Singh is the cousin of Shivendra Singh Judev, who had come here many times to Beri State. Rajmata used to help the poor all the time. That is why people used to turn towards his palace.
