A plane carrying 28 people went missing in Russia’s far eastern region of Kamchatka on Tuesday, which is feared to have crashed. Local officials gave this information. At the same time, according to the reports, the chances of survival of anyone in the accident are very less. An AN-26 plane carrying 22 passengers and six crew members on its way from the town of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to the village of Palana went missing, local emergency service officials said.
According to the local transport ministry, the plane also disappeared from radar. The aircraft belonged to the Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise Company. Local officials said that investigation has been started in the matter. At the same time, a Reuters report quoted Interfax as saying that the plane collided with a peak while trying to land amidst poor visibility.
After getting the information, the search operation was started. Officials have said that the help of two helicopters is being taken to find the missing plane.
A Kamchatka government spokesman said the plane was about to land but lost contact with it about 10 kilometers (six miles) from Palana’s airport. The head of the local government of Palana, Olga Mokhreva, was on board the plane.
