Russia has ordered its troops stationed along the Ukraine border to withdraw. It is believed that the threat of the start of the Third World War in Europe has been averted. Ukraine welcomed Russia’s initiative
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalensky has welcomed Russia’s initiative. He said the withdrawal of the Russian Army would help reduce tensions in the area. He thanked the international colleagues for their support. Jelewski said on Twitter that the lack of troops on our border reduces tension proportionately. He said that Ukraine is cautious, but welcomes any move to reduce the military presence on the border.
Russian Defense Minister announced the end of military drill
It is being told that after seeing the military drills, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the end of the ongoing exercises in Crimea and Western Russia. He has also instructed the Russian military to return to their permanent bases. Sergey Shoigu said that I have become completely confident about the preparations of my army. The soldiers have shown their ability to protect the country and I have decided to complete the exercises in the South and Western Military Districts.
Russia will not remove war weapons from the border
Shoigu said troops should return to their bases by 1 May, but ordered them to keep heavy weapons deployed in western Russia later this year as part of a drill for another large military exercise. Shoigu said that many of our army’s weapons and munitions will remain at the Pogonovo firing range in the southwestern Voronezh region. The area is located 160 km east of the Ukraine border.
European countries had expressed concern
European countries, including the US, were worried by the mobilization of Russian troops near the border of Ukraine. He also requested the withdrawal of troops from Moscow several times. The US and NATO have stated that the deployment of the Russian military near Ukraine was the highest since 2014. The same year Russia occupied the Crimea region of Ukraine. Russia also provides arms and other necessary support to about 30,000 combatants of the anti-Ukraine militia Donabus in the region.
