During a lecture in New Delhi on judicial independence, Soli Sorabjee said passionately that during the Emergency when arguing with Havis Copers in the Supreme Court with Nani Palkhiwala, he found that eminent judges like Justice YV Chandrachud and Justice PN Bhagwati The soul is sold. After Sorabji said this, it was discussed in the country for a long time. Both the independence and responsibility of the judiciary must go hand in hand. Sorabji had said about this that both are two sides of the same coin. Talking about the constitution, like the legislature and the executive, the judiciary is the pillar of democracy. Its independence is talked about, but the fabric of the system is such that it is not completely free from the temptation of power.

Confrontation between Chief Justice and Law Minister
Soli Sorabji was the Attorney General at the time when Ram Jethmalani was the Law Minister of the country. On some legal issues, a situation of confrontation arose between Ram Jethmalani and the then Chief Justice AS Anand.

The matter grew so much that a situation of confrontation arose between the judiciary and the executive. To prevent this confrontation, the then Prime Minister Atal ji called Jaswant Singh and demanded the resignation of Jethmalani. Jethmalani also resigned immediately.

People have different opinions on this whole issue. However, some believe that Jethmalani made a wrong statement in the Soli Sorabjee Justice Anand controversy as Law Minister.
