This stormy bowler used to consider Dhoni clumsy, said – was not afraid of anyone in 2010

New Delhi
South African pacer Anrich Nortje says during the 2010 Champions League T20 tournament he felt former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni didn’t know how to bat. Nortje currently plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL and in 2010, when he was 16, he was called to bowl for the Chennai Super Kings nets.

Delhi Capitals included Anrich Nortje in place of Woakes
Nortje said, ‘I was not that big, so I was not afraid of anyone. I remember I bowled to Dhoni in the nets. It didn’t look

like he was batting honestly, he didn’t use his leg well on many deliveries.

Nortje, who made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2019 and Test debut against India in the same year, said, “I will not lie, I felt at that time that Dhoni did not know how to bat.”

Nortje was instrumental in taking Delhi Capitals to the final in IPL 2020. He took 22 wickets in that season. In 2010, under Dhoni’s leadership, Chennai won the Champions League title by defeating the local team Warriors of South Africa by eight wickets.
