In a letter to SLC, Perera said, ‘I am proud that I was able to represent Sri Lanka in seven Cricket World Cups and contributed to the team’s victory in the 2014 T20 World Cup against India in Bangladesh. This has been an important moment in my life. ‘
SLC also acknowledged Perera’s contribution to the national team’s success. SLC CEO Ashley DeSilva said in the statement, “Tisara was a brilliant all-rounder who contributed a lot to Sri Lanka cricket as a player and played a role in the country’s outstanding cricket moments.”
