Amidst growing cases of corona in the country, the central government has decided to apply the vaccine to those above 18 years of age from 1 May. Right now people over 45 years of age are getting vaccinated. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that people above the age of 18 will be able to

register themselves on the Kovin app and Arogya Setu app from April 28 to get vaccinated. Vaccination will begin from May 1 for those over 18 years of age.

  1. What will be the cost of the vaccine from May 1?
    According to the Union Health Secretary, the vaccine companies will declare their prices before May 1. Either private hospitals will get the vaccine or the state government will be able to take them. This does not mean that the vaccine will be found at a chemist’s shop. The government will no longer provide vaccines to private hospitals. Whatever charges private hospitals charge for vaccination, they will be monitored.
  2. Will the vaccine not be available in a private hospital for Rs 250 now?
    The Health Secretary said that from May 1, the system under which private hospitals could charge up to Rs 250, that system will end. He told that vaccination will be provided free of cost at the vaccination centers in which the Government of India is providing the vaccine.
  3. Will everyone still have to register?
    Whether the vaccine center doses from the Government of India or from the companies, the guidelines of India’s vaccination program will apply to all. Registration will be required on the Kovin digital platform. They will take an appointment at Kovin or register onsite. Digital vaccination certificate will be given as before. Vaccine prices will also be available on Kovin.

How to register for Corona Vaccine?
There are three methods of registration. You can get self-registration done in advance. Apart from this, there is also an option to register on the spot. In the third option, the government itself will contact you for the vaccine. Let us tell you in detail about all the three methods.

Advanced Self-Registration: If you are eligible for vaccination, you can register yourself by downloading the Co-WIN app. Apart from this, it can also be registered at the Arogya Setu. One can also register on the Co-WIN website cowin.gov.in. The method is as follows:

Go to the app or website.
Enter your mobile number An OTP will go.
Create your account by entering OTP.
Fill in the name, age, gender and upload an identity card.
If you are over 45 years of age and have co-morbidity then upload their certificate.
Choose vaccination center and date.
4 appointments can be made through a mobile number.
There is also an option of phone registration for senior citizens (aged 60+). For this, you have to dial the call center number 1507.

On-site registration: If you cannot get a self-register then you can go to the nearest Kovid vaccination center. You can register yourself there. Do not forget to carry a valid identity card and a certificate of co-morbidity (if applicable).

Facilitated registration: This approach is for the governments of the states and union territories. The vaccination date will be set for the target groups. Health officials will try on their behalf to bring all the target groups to the center. For this, ASHA, ANM, Panchayati Raj and women’s self-help groups will be used.

You get registered in any mode, you have to show the identity card before vaccination. The government has approved 12 types of identity cards for vaccination. These are:
