Argentina have reached the semi-finals of the Copa America tournament with a 3-0 win over Ecuador. Captain Lionel Messi scored a brilliant goal in Argentina’s victory, which was forced to clench anyone who saw it. Messi did this feat when his team got a free kick.
It was Messi’s 58th goal from a free-kick in his career, bringing him close to former Argentina captain Diego Maradona’s score of 62. Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 56 free-kick goals in his career so far.
The win advanced Argentina to the semi-finals, where they face Colombia. Brazil and Peru will clash in the other semi-finals. Rodrigo Paul, Lautaro Martinez and Messi scored for Argentina. Paul scored in the 40th minute while Lautaro scored in the 84th minute. Messi did it in the 93rd minute.
