The caliber missile was being live-fire drilled from the vertical launch system fitted in it since early April after coming back to sea. On 27 April, footage of a successful missile launch was shown on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official news channel Jvejka. After which it is being claimed that both these incidents can be the same.
Test being done in Japan Sea
According to the report by Jajeva, this missile test is being carried out in the Japan Sea. This includes several warships on the Eastern Fleet of the Russian Army stationed in the Pacific Ocean. Including live fire drills, missile and gun firing. Due to this, tensions in Japan and Russia have also increased significantly. The US Navy is also keeping an eye on the antics of the Russian Navy through its reconnaissance aircraft in the vicinity of Japan.
This warship was built in 1984
Marshal Shaposhnikov, an anti-submarine warfare destroyer of the Udloy class, was created in 1984 as Project 1155 of the Russian Navy. Four years from today, this warship was brought to Vladivostok for an overhaul. After which the ship was upgraded and in addition to the vertical launch system, additional guns and Euro subsonic anti-ship missiles were deployed. It has been claimed that 20 per cent of its old structure has been demolished and new construction has been done there.
More powerful after upgrade
The ship has a new communication system to interact with the rest of the warships and command centers, a new powerplant to deliver a greater amount of power, and a more powerful sonar to detect underwater movements. It has a 3S14 vertical launch system for launching caliber cruise missiles. There are a total of 16 such missile launching cells on the ship. With this, the Onix supersonic anti-ship cruise missile can also be fired. It is suspected that hypersonic Tsirkon cruise missile is also embedded inside this missile.
