Voting in Parliament for the new government in Israel on Sunday, Netanyahu’s 12 years in power will end!

Digital Desk, Jerusalem. Israel will vote on Sunday for the new government. With this, the 12-year rule of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will end. Netanyahu holds the record for the longest reign in the history of Israel. Parliament Speaker Yariv Levin announced the timing of voting on Tuesday, a day after the coalition was announced. The new coalition has completely changed the political landscape of Israel. For the first time in Israel’s history, an Arab party is going to be a part of power.

Eight political parties have

formed an alliance to form the new government. The coalition has the support of just a little more than a majority in the 120-member parliament, the Knesset. Netanyahu’s supporters staged protests outside the homes of members of parliament to pressure him to break the coalition and threatened to kill him, but the coalition remains determined to form a government. Netanyahu’s former ally and ultranationalist leader Naftali Bennett will become prime minister for the first two years, according to an agreement between the coalition leaders. After this, Jair Lepid will take over as the Prime Minister. Jair Lepid is considered the chief strategist of this alliance.

Let us tell you that four elections have been held in Israel in the last two years. Each time Netanyahu somehow managed to become prime minister. There has never been an occasion in the last 12 years when Netanyahu’s power has looked as weak as it is today. Netanyahu is insisting that the Bennett-Lapid coalition government should not be formed. There is a fear of punishment along with politics behind doing this. Because Netanyahu is facing corruption cases. The change of power in Israel is taking place at a time when it recently fought with Hamas.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s entire election campaign was based on vaccination. In March, about 50 percent of Israel’s total population had received both doses of the vaccine. Netanyahu’s Likud party won the most seats but could not form the government. Now Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid have formed an alliance. Experts say Netanyahu’s talks of a deal with hard-line parties may have hurt him.
