100 athletes from 11 sports were involvedOn behalf of the PM’s Office, it was told that PM Modi connected with 100 athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics through video conference. These athletes are from 11 sports. 25 more athletes are expected to qualify. 26 para athletes have also qualified, while 16 others are likely.
Vaccination of Japanese players beginsVaccination against the corona virus has started for the players of Japan participating in the Olympics. Japan’s Olympic Committee said on Tuesday that about 200 players were vaccinated at training sites on the first day of the campaign. Vaccination for the general public in Japan has been slow and officials have not disclosed the names of the players who have been vaccinated due to fears of public outcry.
