London| India’s Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna lost 3-6, 6-3, 9-11 to the Dutch-Slovenian pair of Andreja Klepack’s Jean-Julien Roger in the mixed doubles pre-quarterfinals at the Wimbledon Championships here on Wednesday. This match was played for two days. The Sania-Bopanna pair lost the first set 3-6 on Tuesday before the match was postponed. However, the unseeded pair entered the tennis court on Wednesday with a sense of purpose and won the second set with the margin of losing the first set.

The final set was closely contested and consisted of 20 games before the Indians died.

The Indian pair had scored 16 aces compared to five by their opponents.

Many mixed doubles matches are close matches, and this one proved to be no different.

There were only three breaks in the entire match. There was a break in the first set, a break in the second set and a final set won by Sania-Bopanna.

With their defeat, the Indian challenge in the tournament has come to an end.
