Digital Desk, New Delhi. The postmortem report by wrestler Sagar Dhankad has revealed that he died due to a blow to the head from a blunt object. Deep wounds of 1 to 4 centimeters were present on Sagar’s body. These wounds were so deep that the bones reached the bone. Wounds of 5 × 2 cm were found on the chest and back and 15×4 cm on the back. Doctors at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital (BJRM) believe that all the marks found on the body are pre-death.
Earlier in the day, the Crime Branch team of Delhi Police took Sushil Kumar to Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi in connection with the investigation into the murder of Sagar Rana and recanted the crime scene. The 2-time Olympic medalist was also taken to his Model Town residence for further investigation. Sushil Kumar was interrogated by the police on Monday for about 4 hours after he was taken on 6 days remand in police custody. Sushil and his associate Ajay Kumar were arrested from Mundka area of Delhi on Sunday morning for their alleged involvement in the murder of Sagar Rana.
What is the whole matter?
This incident is on 4 May. Sagar and his friends were abducted from the flat and brought to Chhatrasal Stadium. Two groups of wrestlers clashed in the stadium parking late at night. Three wrestlers Sagar, Sonu and Amit were injured in it. Sagar died during treatment. The name of Sushil and his associates were revealed in this case. Since then the police was searching for these people. According to media reports, the police also got a CCTV footage of the stadium. In it, Sushil was seen hitting Sagar and his teammates with a hockey stick.
An FIR was lodged against Sushil Kumar at Model Town Police Station under sections 302 (murder), kidnapping (365), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. The police had also recorded the statements of all the victims. The statements stated that Sagar and some of his friends were staying in a house attached to Sushil Kumar near the stadium. They were asked to vacate the house. He was then forcibly evicted from this house. Sushil later came to know that Sagar had used the wrong words against him at the Chhatrasal Stadium in front of other wrestlers and also threatened to suffer dire consequences.
A reward of Rs one lakh was placed on giving information related to the arrest of Sushil Kumar. Delhi Police announced this. Ajay Kumar, who was absconding with Sushil, had also placed a reward of Rs 50,000. Fearing arrest, Sushil Kumar moved Delhi’s Rohini court on May 17, seeking anticipatory bail, stating that the investigation against him was biased. After this, both of them were arrested from Mundka area of Delhi on Sunday morning.
