- Team India will clash in the WTC final against New Zealand from June 18
The teams from India and New Zealand will face off in the final of the ICC World Test Championship from June 18. Both teams have started preparations for this much awaited match. All eyes will be on the performance of the Indian batsmen.
India has selected a strong
This will be the third England tour of captain Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. There are high expectations from these three in batting. However, former Indian all-rounder Vijay Bhardwaj says that the most pressure will be on Ajinkya Rahane.
Rahane has scored 552 runs in 10 Tests in England.
Rahane has scored a total of 552 runs in 10 Tests in England so far including one century and four half-centuries. Bhardwaj believes Rahane needs to contribute more in batting.
Vijay said in an interview to SportsKeeda, “There will be a lot of pressure on Rahane. Unfortunately Rahane has not lived up to the expectations. He is constantly struggling. Of course, these figures are not good for a batsman like Rahane, but in the 2–1 historic Test series on the tour of Australia, this force played an important role.
Bhardwaj said, ‘Rahane will also have to score at a fast pace. Because you don’t want any of your other batsmen to play slow. When you look at the rules, slow batting leads to a draw and a draw in the WTC Finals means trophy sharing. To win the Test Championship title your batsmen need to increase the scoring rate. I know that Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant will score fast but Rahane should also play positively.
