Yuvraj picks Pant as possible successor to skipper Kohli

New Delhi| After seeing Rishabh Pant as the captain of Delhi Capitals, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is quite impressed. He feels that the young wicketkeeper has a smart mind and may take over as India’s captain someday. Although Virat Kohli has been the undisputed leader of the Indian team since taking over from MS Dhoni in 2017 – and there is no threat to his leadership – Yuvraj has described Pant as a possible successor.

Pant took charge of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2021 and helped them win six out of eight matches. Thus the club topped the points table before the league was suspended.

The Times of India quoted Yuvraj as saying, “I also see Rishabh as a potential Indian captain. Because he’s jumpy, flirtatious, and talks all around. But I think he definitely has a smart mind because I saw him when he was captaining the IPL for Delhi Capitals, he did an incredible job. Hence, people should see him as the next captain of the Indian team in the years to come”.

Since making his India debut in 2017, the 23-year-old has cemented his place in the team after initially facing some questions on his wicket-keeping.
